When the on-farm AD plant was built at WH Corbett Farms in 2016, it was designed with a Vogelsang feed system.
The plant’s feedstock is mainly energy crops, and a Vogelsang QuickMix was installed and ran continuously for several years. When the time came to replace it, they opted for a Vogelsang PreMix 4-in-1 feed system.
Chris Corbett of William Corbett Farms, explains: “We took the plunge in 2016 and built an on-farm AD plant and produced renewable energy with a feedstock of predominantly maize and rye.
“When we first built the site. Marches Biogas built it and we were totally in their hands in what was installed. We had very little knowledge and relied on their expertise and got it right. They know their stuff, everything was done properly.
“They originally installed what they thought was the proper kit to have and most of it was Vogelsang. 7 years on, Vogelsang has been the company that has given us the best support. They’ve helped us when we’ve needed help. Their equipment is reliable and they carry the parts and the expertise that we need to keep it running.
“The support we’ve had from Vogelsang has been very good. We’ve replaced the equipment that’s worn out over time and Vogelsang have put new technology in and the stuff they put in and support is good. They are a good company to be fair.
“The original feeder was a Vogelsang QuickMix which had tens of thousands of tonnes through it. It did its job, and when it got tired, Vogelsang put the PreMix in, which has been a big step up. It’s a lot more reliable, cheaper to run, and superb throughput.”
